When I heard about a sequel to The Christmasaurus I couldn t wait to read it and it didn t disappoint The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch is about the adventures William and Brenda have as they try to save Christmas as we know it and find the winter witch.Although I am not the target audience I love this book It is full of magic, creativity and imagination that left me not wanting to put the book down The story has a good balance of heart and humour but still has messages for children to learn through with topics such as friendship.I like that we got to see of Brenda in this book as she is a character that I found interesting from the first book and it s nice to see how she reacts to Christmas both at home and in the North Pole I think it was nice to see Brenda having her Christmas split between her parents and her reluctance to go as it will be relatable to children in the same situation and is not something I ve read about much in other children s books.William is a great character, as always, and I like that he is such a good friend and shows kindness even in the hardest times As in the first book it is nice to see William being able to find a way to do everything he wishes to despite his wheelchair in a way that seems so normal which is brilliant. The black and white illustrations in the book are so fun and really bring the story to life I really liked seeing all of the scenes at the North Pole but I also liked how some important words were made to stand out with different styles of font as it adds excitement to the story.I have loved reading this sequel and, of course, seeing the Christmasaurus again Another beautiful story full of Christmas magic that is perfect for this time of year

I write this as a primary school teacher Two classes and myself both loved the first book and The Creakers It s an entertaining book full of vivid imagery but unfortunately it doesn t live up to the first The story isn t quite as simple to pick up and seems lengthier than necessary.
